Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg : The 23-year-old CEO is the youngest self-made billionaire to crack Forbes magazine's annual list of the world's richest people.
But Zuckerberg's $1.5 billion ranked him just No. 785 out of a record 1,125 billionaires around the globe - and it didn't even rank him in the top 20 among Silicon Valley moguls. In short, Zuckerberg is basically standing at base camp compared with the man atop the Mount Everest of money: Berkshire Hathaway Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett.
Buffett saw his wealth jump $10 billion over the past year to an estimated $62 billion. That was enough to hold off Mexican telecommunications mogul Carlos Slim Helu ($60 billion) and last year's richest man, Microsoft founder Bill Gates ($58 billion).
All told, 101 Californians made the international list with a total of more than $317 billion in net worth.
Nearly one-fifth of that was controlled by three Silicon Valley tycoons: Oracle founder Larry Ellison ($25 billion) and Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page with nearly $19 billion each. (Or at least that's what they were worth on Feb. 11, before Google's stock skidded 14 percent.)
